And the Ballet Strikes Again!

Who knew a simple little ballet class could be so fatiguing? I certainly didn’t. I figured it would be like any other aerobic-type exercise which one recovers from fairly rapidly.

This is not the case.

I also figured that after a certain number of classes, endurance and stamina would follow, making it all that much easier.

This too, is not the case.

Perhaps (dare I say it!?) it’s an age thing - the body just doesn’t recover as quickly as an adult as it did as a younger adult or youth.

The problem with this is that it now takes me at least 1 extra day to recover from this very strenuous activity - and this sometimes means skipping the gym - like today.

I had all the intentions in the world of going to the gym today but when it got right down to it - I just didn’t have the energy.

Of course, it probably didn’t help that I spent over 3 hours there this weekend - all at one go.

I’m also worried about the makeup classes I need to do - when can I do them? I thought I might have one tomorrow but I fear I may still be too exhausted (okay, maybe I’m getting a little too cautionary here - it’s not like I’m weak and feeble and the slightest gust will carry me away) - or maybe it’s just that 1 class per week is about all I can take.

That has the ring of truth about it.

I’m pretty much committed to doing 2 classes back to back next Monday - I figure - “Hey! I’m already here - why not work myself into the ground!?” I’m not sure I would have done this without the aid of a classmate who also needs to make up a class and suggested doing ‘a double’. I think I might have backed away from it but after the class, in the changing room, he told me he’d already cleared it with our teacher that we would double up next week. Thanks, guy!

Well, it’s probably just as well since I have about 5 make-up classes to do and at this rate, I’ll not get any done, though I still hold out great hope for a couple of Wednesday evening classes as well - we shall see what we shall see.

I’ve also got this whole new workout program in the gym, thanks to my new ‘trainer’. I now have 18 new exercises that, though the weights are light, are surprisingly tough. I’m going to be very diligent about doing them all correctly so that I may advance toward that previously mentioned goal.

That too will have to wait to be seen.

And hopefully, it will be obvious!
